Mentoring Sessions

Earlybird rates for 2026 – rates increasing soon

Book a single session and you’ll get a 1.5 hour coffee meeting or video conference to discuss your writing project with me. I will read and offer feedback on up to 5,000 words of your work, and during the meeting offer specific, straightforward support with the next steps in completing your novel and getting it ready for publishing. Cost: $315.

Mentoring Packages

Book a package of two sessions. You’ll get two 90-minute coffee meetings (or video conferences) with an agreed period of time in between for you to work on your novel. I will read up to 5,000 words of your work before each session and provide feedback. You’ll get direct, specific advice on how to complete your novel and get it ready for publishing. Cost: $555.

Developmental Editing

If you’ve written and edited your manuscript, you may be ready for developmental (or structural) editing. I bring my years of experience and knowledge of genre, narrative structure and character arcs to your work. I will read your work carefully and provide a multi-page electronic report with feedback on strengths and weaknesses, character arc and narrative structure. I’ll include clear, actionable recommendations on how you can develop and then polish your manuscript in preparation for pitching. I will also provide feedback on the genre, comparable titles and prospective publishers. I offer a one-month turnaround.

My fees are based on the below word counts:

• Up to 5,000 words plus synopsis: $525
• 5,000-20k: $775
• 20-40k: $1075
• 40-60k: $1550
• 60-80k: $2250
• 80-100k: $3100
• beyond 100k: to be negotiated

You may wish to book a half-hour Zoom meeting ($50) for discussion before I commence my analysis and report, but this is optional.

NOTE: A mentoring session or developmental edit cannot, of course, be a guarantee of publication! But without a full manuscript, there is no chance of publication. Let me help you get that novel written and ready for pitching.
