Reading gives us freedom and escape. It forces us to step off the treadmill of life and immerse ourselves in something thrilling, peaceful or wonderful. Life is so fast and broken up into a chaos of digital moments. Books are whole and slow and beautiful. Reading heals us from the mundane, the dissociation, the frustration and grief of daily life.
